Which porta potty type fits my job?
The right porta potty type depends on who uses it and what the site has. Crews need a standard unit. Parties with food need a unit with a sink. Weddings need flushing units or a trailer. Public events need an accessible unit. No unit except a trailer needs power or water.
| Unit | Best for | Hand washing | Needs water or power? | Footprint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard porta potty | Job sites, farm crews, backyard overflow | Hand sanitizer inside | No | About 4 × 4 ft |
| Standard with hand sink | Parties with food, crews that eat on site | Foot-pump sink inside | No, it carries its own water | About 4 × 4 ft |
| Deluxe flushing unit | Weddings, graduation parties, nicer events | Sink, soap, towels, mirror | No, self-contained | About 4 × 4 ft |

Standard unit with hand sink
A standard unit with a hand sink adds a foot-pump sink inside the stall, with its own fresh-water tank. It needs no hookup. It suits parties and crews that eat on site, and costs less than a standard unit plus a separate station.

| Waste tank | About 60 gallons |
| Fresh water | About 15–20 gallons, foot pump |

Deluxe flushing unit
A deluxe flushing porta potty adds a foot-pump flush that rinses the bowl with fresh water, so guests see a clean bowl. It also has a sink, soap, towels and more room. Flushing units are the step up for weddings, graduation parties and nicer events.

Restroom trailer
A restroom trailer is a towed unit with two or more private stalls, flushing toilets, running-water sinks, lights and climate control. It needs a garden hose and a 20-amp outlet. It is the most comfortable option for weddings and VIP areas.

What about ADA units and hand-washing stations?
ADA wheelchair-accessible units are about 7 by 7 feet, with a ground-level floor, grab bars and a 60-inch turning space. Hand-washing stations are freestanding two-basin sinks about 3 feet square that carry their own water. Each has its own page with sizing rules.

Unit questions
Will a porta potty fit through my backyard gate?
A standard porta potty is about 44 inches wide, so it needs a gate at least 48 inches wide plus room for two people to carry or dolly it. Accessible units and trailers will not fit through a backyard gate. Measure your gate before booking.
Are event units nicer than construction units?
Event units are kept for events and stay newer and cleaner looking. Job-site units are fully cleaned and sanitized too, but they work harder and can show wear. Tell us it is an event when you book.
Do standard units have a urinal?
Our standard units have a toilet seat and a small urinal, toilet paper and a hand-sanitizer dispenser. Flushing units have a seat, a flush pedal, a sink and soap.
